HOUSEKEEPING PROCEDURE: Stay Fresh, Stay Fly, Stay Grove-Worthy

At The Grove, housekeeping is more than just cleaning—it’s about delivering an exceptional guest experience. Every detail matters, and staying organized ensures we operate efficiently, keep our standards high, and avoid unnecessary frustrations.

The following policies outline key expectations, processes, and best practices to keep our housekeeping team running smoothly.

1️⃣ LAUNDRY FACILITIES & STORAGE POLICY

Why It Matters:

  • Ensures we never run out of essential cleaning solutions.

  • Keeps linens properly sorted and stored to avoid mix-ups.

  • Helps diagnose any laundry dispenser issues before they become big problems.

Your Role as a Team Member:

Check solution levels at the start of every shift—just take a quick look at the containers. No excuses for empty bottles!

Make sure the dispenser on the main laundry is ON—the switch should be set away from the wall at both locations.

Confirm solutions are dispensing properly:

  • The blue soap has a slight delay—watch for the dispenser wheel spinning and check the tube.

  • The sanitizer dispenses at 33 minutes, softener at 15 minutes.

  • If you’re folding laundry, you should notice if the soap and sanitizer aren’t dispensing—pay attention!

Understand the laundry dispenser system—know where the tubes attach so troubleshooting is easier.

Organize linens correctly:

  • Double sheets: No colored thread.

  • Queen sheets: Green thread.

  • King sheets: Gold thread.

  • Duvets: Fold inside out with the tag accessible to avoid unnecessary trips back and forth.

  • Mattress pads: Always store in the designated section.

Know the inventory:

  • Queen duvets: 8x8 squares.

  • King duvets: 8x9 squares.

  • Rogue queen duvet: 9x10 squares (smaller, thinner).

Fitted sheets with no elastic, pilling, or stains? Set them aside for disposal - with management approval.

📌 If you notice laundry dispenser issues or need to report low inventory, notify a manager immediately!

2️⃣ VACUUM CARE POLICY

Why It Matters:

  • Keeping vacuums in good condition means better suction, faster cleaning, and fewer breakdowns.

  • Neglecting vacuum maintenance slows us down and leads to costly repairs.

Your Role as a Team Member:

Before using a vacuum:

  • Ensure all parts are assembled and locked in place.

  • Check for and remove any hair or string wrapped around the beater bar—this is every housekeeper’s responsibility.

Be mindful of the blue vacuums—they do not lock upright due to previous misuse. Lean them securely against something to prevent further damage.

Keep vacuum filters clean! We’ve done well during the off-season—let’s keep it up through the busy months.

📌 If a vacuum isn’t working properly, report it immediately!

3️⃣ FILTER MAINTENANCE POLICY

Why It Matters:

  • Clean filters = better air quality, more efficient heating & cooling, and fewer breakdowns.

  • Guests notice dirty filters, so let’s keep them spotless.

Your Role as a Team Member:

PTAC & Mitsubishi unit filters must be cleaned regularly—some of you are rockstars at this. Others… not so much.

If you don’t clean filters regularly, start NOW. It’s simple, and it makes a huge difference. If you need help, just ask.

📌 Guests will not complain about a clean filter, but they WILL notice a dirty one.

4️⃣ CADDY STOCKING POLICY

Why It Matters:

  • Prepping your caddy at the start of your shift = a faster, smoother day.

  • Leaving an unstocked caddy creates frustration for the next shift.

Your Role as a Team Member:

Caddies must be stocked with:

  • Full solution bottles.

  • Neatly folded, organized rags.

  • All necessary supplies.

  • All garbage removed.

Never leave a caddy understocked—this is the bare minimum expectation for teamwork.

📌 If you notice missing supplies, refill them before starting your rounds.

FINAL NOTES FOR THE TEAM:

Consistency is key—follow the procedures so everything runs smoothly.

Respect the team—small actions (like stocking your caddy) impact everyone.

Attention to detail matters—guests notice everything.

Let’s keep housekeeping running like a well-oiled machine and make 2025 our best year yet! 🚀
